Key, legally binding aspects include mandatory pre-exercise health checks, adherence to cancellation policies (often requiring 30 days' notice or penalty fees), and strict rules against unauthorized personal training or antisocial behavior.  Membership and Usage Rules Hygiene and Attire: Mandatory wiping of equipment, proper gym attire (no jeans or workwear), and rubber-soled shoes are required. Safety and Health: Members must ensure they are fit to exercise, complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ), and report any illness, with a 14-day initial cooling-off period often applicable. Code of Conduct: Harassment, aggressive behavior, and smoking (including e-cigarettes) are prohibited and can result in immediate termination. Equipment Care: Weights must not be dropped, and equipment must be returned to its proper place. Photography/Video: Taking photos of others without consent is banned, and taking videos of children (other than your own) is strictly prohibited.  Financial Terms and Cancellations Payments: Failed direct debits may incur charges (e.g., £15), and unpaid fees may lead to debt collection. Cancellation: Early termination of a contract often requires paying the full remaining cost. For monthly rolling contracts, notice must usually be given by a specific date in the month (e.g., the 15th) to avoid another payment.
